It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started--at Cousins Beach.

---

The way The Summer I Turned Pretty ended, I was dying to know what was happening between Conrad and Belly. Conrad won my heart over as I'm sure he did many people. So when I opened the book, found out what had been going on since these two had finally gotten together, well you could say I was a tad bit ticked off at my boy Conrad.

The one thing I adore about this series  is the innocence Han captures with Belly. Belly is the type of girl that is still stuck in that child-like way but you can see a lot of maturity in her as well. A lot of things have changed in her life, and this book has a quiet sadness that you can sense throughout every page through every character. It broke my heart sometimes seeing how not only Belly was feeling, but especially seeing Jeremiah and Conrad trying to figure their lives out now.

The book started to shift. Like any good author, Han turned the tables on us bringing a whole new light to Jeremiah and extreme frustration when it came to Conrad. I know the guy was going through a lot, but I wanted to smack Conrad upside the head so many times.

And then without warning, right when things had me gaping, it just ended. If I didn't happen to have my sister's Nook with me with the third book on it, I may have let out a scream. It's Not Summer Without You is definitely the transition novel. While sometimes those can slow down or be pumped full of too much information, this one still flowed just as nicely as the first book and gives some resolution, but with no doubt will get any reader running for the third.
